Manufacturer of ventilation systems achieves savings in Freight and Energy - Expense Reduction Analysts
For freight, mail management and packaging Orcon spend annually 170.000 Euros and worked together mostly with local partners for many years. Now, Orcon wanted to find out how competitive their prices were. To get an overview of the needs and requirements Expense Reduction Analysts visited Orcon twice and also talked with the incumbent suppliers.
So far, the incoming pallets and small packaging freight were covered by different suppliers in which a wholesaler with limited slots for delivery was also included. In order to find the best solution for Orcon, Expense Reduction Analysts designed a tender based on the Orcon core requirements and requested six logistic solution providers for a proposal.
One of the results of the tender was the insight that Orcon needed at least two suppliers to ensure their expected good quality. Therefore, Expense Reduction Analysts presented four solutions to Orcon to achieve savings and maintain the same service level. Orcon decided to stay with most of their incumbent suppliers – but at better financial conditions. Overall, Expense Reduction Analysts achieved 12,5% savings. With the smaller energy-projects – in which a new supplier was introduced – Orcon achieved additional 15% savings.

Kees de Dreu is in 1991 afgestuurd aan de Hogeschool van Utrecht op het vakgebied Telematica. Sinds de afronding van zijn studie heeft hij werkervaring opgedaan in diverse (project)management functies. Als manager Operations, had hij intern de verantwoordelijkheid voor de dagelijkse aansturing van de technici, projectleiders en helpdeskmedewerkers. Extern was hij verantwoordelijk voor de juiste oplossing per klant en de tevredenheid van de klant over de geboden oplossing. Na de verkoop van zijn bedrijf, is hij in 2008 toegetreden tot het ERA netwerk, waar hij projecten leidt om de niet-strategische kosten van zijn klanten te reduceren en waarbij hij zowel telecom-analyses uitvoert voor zijn eigen klanten als voor de klanten van andere netwerkleden.
